No other NATO member country has suffered from terror like Turkey, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in Istanbul at a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Trend reports referring to the Turkish media.

Stoltenberg said that NATO understands Turkey’s concerns regarding the situation in northern Syria.

Stoltenberg expressed support to Turkey in fighting against terrorism.

At the same time, the secretary general noted that the NATO member countries don’t have a unified position on PYD/YPG.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the beginning of a new military operation entitled ‘Peace Spring’ in Syria on Oct. 9. The president stressed that Turkey will completely destroy the hotbeds of terrorism in northern Syria.

On Oct. 7, Erdogan said that in anticipation of the beginning of new military operations by the Turkish Armed Forces in northern Syria, the US servicemen began to leave the region.
